Seigaiha is a pattern of overlapping waves often seen in Nabeshima ware.

Its depiction of gentle, continuous waves stretching out endlessly has made it a symbol of enduring happiness and a wish for peaceful lives since ancient times, hence its use as an auspicious pattern.

Seigaiha patterns drawn using a technique called sumihajiki are also very tasteful, conveying both beauty and high technical skill.
