What is glaze?
Glaze is a chemical applied to the surface of shaped, unglazed pottery. When fired, it vitrifies and forms a layer that covers the surface of the finished ware. It is also called uwagusuri and is known as "glaze" in English.
Glaze prevents water and dirt from seeping into the ware, making it more durable and easier to handle. You can enjoy a wide variety of glaze expressions with different colors and textures.
