Sometsuke Reverse Karakusa Shaving Brush 13.4cm
At first glance, it might appear to be "Tako Karakusa" (octopus arabesque), a common pattern found in old Imari ware from the Edo period, but this is a "Gyaku Karakusa" (reverse arabesque) pattern. While regular Tako Karakusa fills in the arabesque pattern itself, Gyaku Karakusa fills in the background while leaving the arabesque pattern uncolored. Gyaku Karakusa, which requires high skill and experience, stands out among old Imari sometsuke for its splendor and presence.
The handle was produced by Kishogama, a company skilled at "recreating old Imari ware." Among their notable achievements is the "Usururi Sōro," which recreates the "Usururi" (thin lapis lazuli) technique, known as a lost art. It reinterprets the design and texture of the "Sometsuke Shirasagi-zu Sankyaku-zara" (blue and white egret design tripod plate), which is designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan, in a new form.
The bristles were produced by Chikuhodo, a brush workshop renowned worldwide. This luxurious shaving brush uses more bristles than usual. The bristle material is badger hair. When wet, the bristles soften, providing a smooth feel against the skin. Furthermore, badger hair has just the right amount of resilience, allowing for the creation of finer lather.
There may be slight differences in color, brushwork, and weight between individual products. Also, some products may have small black dots (iron spots) on the surface or glaze drips, but these do not indicate a quality issue.

Where the aesthetic of Hasami ware intersects with the skill of a long-established glass craftsman.
A "stackable" glass tumbler that refines everyday life.
"HASAMI PORCELAIN" brings a quiet sense of unity and comfortable tension to the everyday dining table. This tumbler translates that refined worldview directly into a different material: glass.
Toyo-Sasaki Glass, a leader in Japanese glass manufacturing, precisely reproduced the "85mm diameter" module design of Hasami ware. The linear form, inspired by traditional tiered food boxes, presents a beautiful, sculptural presence even when not in use. From a glass of cold water to a special evening cocktail, this exquisite item elevates ordinary daily scenes.
A superb mouthfeel and weight, where edge and smoothness coexist.
When held, the substantial weight of 350g, unique to glass, rests comfortably in the palm of your hand. The linear, edgy form characteristic of HASAMI PORCELAIN is splendidly reproduced through "press molding," a technique requiring high skill. Yet, the rim that touches your lips is astonishingly smooth. The stability provided by the thick glass and the clear clinking sound when ice is added satisfy not only sight but also touch and hearing, offering a truly blissful user experience.
A transparent canvas that transforms drinks into scenery.
The clear texture of the minimalist soda-lime glass acts as a frame, beautifully enhancing whatever is poured into it. From iced coffee or tea catching the morning light, to sparkling water generously topped with mint, simply pouring amber whiskey in the evening creates a serene atmosphere, as if you were in a bar. Furthermore, if used as a vessel for parfaits layered with yogurt and fruit, or for colorful chilled soups, the usual dining scene is reborn with a modern and refreshing look.
Practicality born from the philosophy of Hasami ware x the technology of Toyo-Sasaki Glass.
This series elevates the Hasami ware tradition of "the beauty of mass production" to modern times. The strict 85mm diameter standard was brought to life by the long-established Toyo-Sasaki Glass. This allows for perfect stacking with the series' ceramic bowls, mugs, and wooden trays. Its greatest feature is that it takes up minimal storage space, and even when stacked in a cupboard, its appearance is beautiful. Moreover, its thick and durable construction makes it dishwasher-safe. It perfectly balances the beauty created by artisan craftsmanship with the genuine toughness needed for daily use.

Please read before purchasing (Regarding the "individuality" of the tableware)
While we only sell genuine products that have passed manufacturer inspections, due to the nature of handmade ceramics, this product has the following unique characteristics. We hope you will appreciate it as a one-of-a-kind "scenery" that industrial products do not possess.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes (rapid cooling/heating), such as pouring boiling water directly, as this may cause breakage.

- When stacking, please stack gently to avoid strong impacts.
- Tiny black dots (iron specks) may be visible on the surface of the vessel, and glaze drips or pools may occur, but these are not quality issues.
