This limited edition "Red Tokusa Lidded Bowl" is crafted by Kanuemon Kiln, an Imari ware producer.
The "Tokusa" pattern, a vertical stripe design, has been cherished since ancient times. Kanuemon Kiln's Red Tokusa exhibits a gentle warmth in the subtle undulations of each hand-drawn line and the variations in the vermilion red, a testament to its handmade nature.

Imari-yaki is a general term for ceramics produced in Imari City, Saga Prefecture. The Okawachiyama area, where the domain kiln was located, is particularly famous. During the Edo period, "Imari-yaki" and "Arita-yaki" referred to essentially the same items. Because products fired in Arita were shipped from Imari Port, people at the time called them "Imari-yaki." Specifically, old Imari-yaki produced during the Edo period is now called "Ko-Imari" (old Imari) and is highly valued artistically.
At our store, we differentiate and label ceramics by their place of origin: items fired in present-day Arita Town are called "Arita-yaki," those from Imari City are "Imari-yaki," those from Hasami Town are "Hasami-yaki," and those from Ureshino Town are "Hizen Yoshida-yaki."
