To enjoy the current state of Japanese cuisine, which is a mix of various nationalities and regions, and to explore the form of tableware that will herald the future of Japanese cuisine, we named our brand "ALONGU 明論具." By intentionally adding "U" to "ALONG" to express it like a Japanese romaji reading, and combining it with the kanji "明論具," we convey that while the tableware accommodates diverse contemporary meals that transcend nationalities, it is also tableware made in Japan.

The designer is Jin Kuramoto, a product designer known for HAY's "KNIT," arflex Japan's "JK," and home appliances like audio-technica's wireless earphones. This is the first time Kuramoto has ventured into the field of tableware among the many products he has designed. The art direction is handled by graphic designer Rei Masaki. Through the perspective of Masaki, a Japanese American who grew up in New York and has been active in Tokyo since 2017, the world of "ALONGU 明論具" is expressed in a borderless way, transcending nationalities.

The ALONGU series challenges the perception of porcelain products as having a uniform finish. It is crafted to allow you to enjoy the unique character and subtle variations in the material's expression, purposefully pursuing finishes such as glazes with a wide range of expressive possibilities.

About ALONGU 明論具's Inspection Standards

While we only sell products that have passed the manufacturer's inspection, please be aware of the following product characteristics:

• "Yakishime" products are unglazed and fired at high temperatures. Due to factors such as weather during firing, there may be individual differences in surface black spots and color. Additionally, if left for a long time after use, oil stains may occur.
• "Fuchisabi" products have an iron-based glaze applied to the rim. Due to factors such as weather during firing, there may be individual differences in color.
• "Seiji" products may have glaze pooling due to the glazing process, and there may be individual differences in color due to factors such as weather during firing.
• "Tenmoku" products use a delicate glaze that creates crystal components. Due to factors such as weather during firing, there may be individual differences in color.
• Since we actively use glazes with rich expressions, products with small dots or irregularities are still considered good quality.

Individual products may vary slightly in color, pattern texture, and weight. Also, some products may have small black dots (iron spots) on the surface or glaze drips, but these do not indicate a quality issue.
