We named our brand "ALONGU" to celebrate the current state of Japanese cuisine, which is a fusion of various nationalities and regionalities, and to explore the form of tableware that will foreshadow the future of Japanese food. By intentionally adding "U" to "ALONG" to create a Romanized Japanese pronunciation, and combining it with the kanji "明論具", we express that our tableware, while embracing the diverse current dining styles that transcend nationalities, is proudly made in Japan.

The designer is Jin Kuramoto, a product designer known for his work on HAY's "KNIT," arflex Japan's "JK," and audio-technica's wireless earphones, among other electronic products. This is Kuramoto's first foray into tableware. The art direction is handled by graphic designer Rei Masaki. Born in New York and active in Tokyo since 2017, Masaki's Japanese-American perspective allows the world of "ALONGU" to be expressed in a borderless way that transcends nationalities.

The ALONGU series aims to revolutionize the image of porcelain products as having uniform finishes. To allow customers to enjoy the unique character and subtle variations of the material, we deliberately pursue finishes, such as glazes, that offer a wide range of expressions.

ALONGU Inspection Standards

While we only sell products that have passed the manufacturer's inspection, please be aware of the following product characteristics:

• "Yakishime" products are fired at high temperatures without glaze, so there will be individual differences in surface black spots and color due to firing conditions such as weather. Also, oil stains may occur if left for a long time after use.
• The rim of "Fuchisabi" products is coated with an iron-based glaze, so there will be individual differences in color due to firing conditions such as weather.
• "Seiji" products may have glaze pooling due to the application of the glaze, and there will be individual differences in color due to firing conditions such as weather.
• "Tenmoku" products use a delicate glaze created by crystalline components, so there will be individual differences in color due to firing conditions such as weather.
• Since we actively use glazes with rich expressions, items with small spots or unevenness are also considered good products.
