Risogama Sometsuke Tachiwaku-mon Soba Choko (Large) 220ml

"Sometsuke" refers to designs painted on a white porcelain canvas with a blue pigment called GOSU. Risogama's sometsuke is not merely blue; the shading and subtle blurring created by the artisan's brushstrokes convey the warmth characteristic of handcrafted items.

The "Tachiwaku-mon" pattern, depicted across the entire vessel, is a traditional aristocratic pattern (yusoku-monyo) featuring two opposing curves that symbolize steam or vital energy rising to the heavens. It carries the highly auspicious meanings of "rising fortune" and "developing prosperity," making it an ideal design not only for personal use but also as a celebratory gift for occasions such as wedding favors or longevity celebrations.
