The design of "Kenjo Koimari" is highly esteemed, having been prized as an offering to the shogunate and feudal lords during the Edo period. This 5-sun plate is an updated version of that traditional beauty, crafted as Hasami ware (Saikai Pottery) to seamlessly blend into modern lifestyles. When we held it in our hands at our shop, we found its surface to be smooth and pleasant to the touch. Weighing approximately 175g, it has a perfect balance—neither too light nor too heavy—making it a reliable piece that will frequently be used at your daily dining table.

The 14.5cm diameter plate has long been known as a "5-sun plate" and has been cherished as a serving plate for side dishes, desserts, fruits, and Japanese sweets. The excellent feature of this plate is its slightly raised rim (3.2cm high). This allows you to safely use it for serving dishes with a little liquid, such as nikujaga (meat and potato stew), ohitashi (blanched greens), or salads with dressing.

Five Colors to Make Table Coordination Enjoyable

Despite its traditional pattern, it exudes a modern atmosphere thanks to its vibrant five-color variations: blue, red, green, yellow, and purple. Because special gold paint that does not contain metal components is used, you can enjoy the gorgeous gold decoration while being able to heat it in the microwave for everyday use.

The design is applied by 'overglaze transfer' on the surface of the pottery, so repeated use of a dishwasher may lead to fading or peeling of the design. To maintain its beautiful condition for a long time, hand washing is recommended.
