上絵付け(うわえつけ)とは

    上絵付け(うわえつけ)とは、釉薬をかけて本焼成(本焼き)した後に行う絵付けです。比較的低い温度で焼成するため、下絵付けに比べて幅広い色彩表現が可能です。

    焼き上がった器の表面に、赤・黄・緑のほか、金やプラチナなどの絵の具で装飾を施し、再び焼成(上絵付け焼成)することで、色絵の器が完成します。染付のうつわに色絵を施したものを染錦(そめにしき)と呼びます。
