Kichiemon Pottery HAZE Coffee Cup & Saucer 7.5cm/200ml
A new Arita ware staple, combining the professional aesthetic and durability brought by handcrafted "bubbles."
This is a coffee cup and saucer from the innovative HAZE series, created by Kichiemon Gama, an Arita ware kiln boasting over 400 years of tradition.
HAZE design expressed with unique "bubble glaze"
Featuring a modern design with distinctive bubble patterns on the rim of the cup, it comes in gentle color variations such as HAZE GREEN, HAZE BLUE, and HAZE PINK.
Combining tactile feel and practicality
The exterior has a matte finish that resists fingerprints, while the interior is smooth and easy to wash. Unlike earthenware, it is made of porcelain, which does not absorb into the body, so even long-used tea stains can be thoroughly removed with bleach.
Versatile saucer that can be used alone
With a flat shape that lacks a depression for the cup, the saucer can be conveniently used alone as a small plate, side plate, or dessert plate.
Quality chosen in professional settings
Made of reinforced porcelain, it is widely used in settings where durability is required, such as hotel rooms and restaurants. Furthermore, its unique design and high practicality make it a welcome gift for weddings and other occasions.
Please read before purchasing (Regarding the "individuality" of the ware)

Bring fresh "butterbur leaves" to your table. A masterpiece of Hasami ware, where jewel-like glass pools captivate the eye.
The first time I held this vessel, I was instantly captivated by the beauty of the sparkling "hiwa green (bright yellowish-green) vidro" in the center. Crafted by "Korin-gama," a renowned kiln in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture, this butterbur leaf-shaped mukozuke (side dish bowl) exudes an overwhelming presence that transcends the boundaries of ordinary Japanese tableware. In the center of the 22cm-wide leaf, the scene of raindrops gently pooling on a butterbur leaf after a rain shower is beautifully expressed, with fine crazing running through the glassy surface, reflecting light and shimmering like jewels. Beyond its artistic appeal, its reassuring weight of 430g feels comfortable in both hands, and the smooth, porcelain-specific touch is exceptional. Simply placing your usual side dishes on it transforms your familiar dining table, turning everyday meals into special moments reminiscent of a meal at a high-end restaurant, making it a piece you'll cherish for a long time.
The Magic of "Vidro Pool" that Elevates Your Cuisine
The greatest charm of this vessel is undoubtedly the beautiful depiction of a water pool in the center. The fresh "hiwa green" glaze of the butterbur leaf truly shines when serving sashimi. The red of tuna and the translucent flesh of white fish create a cool green and vivid contrast, resulting in a dish that looks like a painting. With a comfortable depth of 4.7cm, it's also perfect for serving saucy dishes like simmered pumpkin or side dishes like cold tofu in a fluffy, three-dimensional way.
Smooth Porcelain Texture that Delights the Sense of Touch
Despite its beautiful form, you'll be surprised by its "pleasant feel" when you actually use it. The surface, described as "glossy and smooth," adheres to your fingertips. When washing, the sponge glides smoothly, and dirt comes off easily, which is a nice bonus. Furthermore, the 430g weight, which you feel when holding the vessel, is by no means too heavy. It provides stability when placed on the table and a definite sense of satisfaction of "using a good vessel" when held in your hand. The iron spots (small black dots) and variations in glaze concentration, which arise from the artisan's handiwork, are unique characteristics of each vessel, fostering a growing fondness the more you use them.
Hasami Ware's Practicality for Everyday Use, Without Compromise
The DNA of Hasami ware, which historically developed as "everyday tableware for common people," is firmly inherited in this vessel. Despite its delicate and artistic appearance, it boasts impressive durability, being compatible with dishwashers, microwaves, and even freezers. You can even use it stylishly by chilling it in the freezer beforehand and serving chilled sashimi or cold appetizers to the table. Despite its intricate leaf shape, its modern lifestyle compatibility and ease of care, which doesn't add to daily household chores, are some of the reasons why you'll find it indispensable the longer you use it.
This is a miraculous vessel that combines the delicate scene depiction of an artwork with robust everyday usability. Every time you open the cupboard and catch sight of it, you'll be genuinely excited, wondering "What shall I serve today?" Simply placing store-bought side dishes or evening meal accompaniments on it will transform your daily dining table into a rich experience. Please savor this joy with your own eyes and hands.
Recommended for:
- Those who want to elevate simple side dishes like sashimi or cold tofu to a restaurant-quality level.
- Those who desire an artistic design but also prioritize easy maintenance, such as dishwasher and microwave compatibility.
- Those who wish to enrich their evening drink time with visual and tactile charm.
- Those who want to enjoy the smooth texture, weight, and beauty of the artisan's glaze with all their senses.

ARITA PORCELAIN LAB Shingo Oka Supervised Sometsuke Quadrilateral Small Plate 10.5cm [3 Patterns]
A versatile small plate, supervised by Shingo Oka, that adds color to your dining table
Excellent versatility and usability
This versatile small plate fits into any daily scene, whether for small side dishes, condiments, or sweets. It proposes a uniquely Japanese way to enjoy tableware, adorning your dining table with small plates.
A miraculous collaboration
The desire of ceramist Shingo Oka to have "more people use his pottery" is combined with the "high skill x stable production capacity" of a kiln with 200 years of traditional techniques. This is a very rare fully supervised product in the industry, where Mr. Oka himself thoroughly supervised everything from design, ceramic clay and glaze blending, to painting and glazing guidance.
Quality born from skilled craftsmanship
Despite being mass-produced, it is made through a painstaking process to maintain the warmth and high quality of artisan pieces.
- Forming (Pressure Casting): This technique involves injecting "slip (liquid clay)" under pressure into a specialized plaster mold with irregularities. It is mainly suitable for forming irregularly shaped vessels.
- Trimming (Shaping): After drying, craftsmen trim the piece to achieve its final shape. This is a crucial step requiring skilled techniques that affect the finish of porcelain.
- Bisque Firing: The pieces are slowly bisque fired in a 920-degree kiln for two days.
- Painting and Glazing: Under Mr. Oka's guidance, craftsmen hand-paint the underglaze. Afterward, Mr. Oka's specially blended glaze is applied using precise techniques as instructed.
- Main Firing: The pieces are slowly "reduction fired" at a high temperature of 1300 degrees for three days to completion.
"Free and dynamic sometsuke" of Early Imari
What is Early Imari?
It refers to Arita ware fired between 1616 and the 1650s, characterized by glazes that imitate the white porcelain of the Joseon Dynasty. Pieces from this era, about half a century before the completion period, often feature free and dynamic forms and painting, possessing warmth and deep flavor.
Reproduction by hand-painting
The beauty of the "free and dynamic sometsuke" characteristic of Early Imari has been beautifully reproduced in modern vessels by the hands of skilled craftsmen.
Ceramist Shingo Oka
A popular artist who creates pottery based on a unique "refined sensibility" that matches the contemporary atmosphere, while being mindful of masterpieces from older eras such as white porcelain (Joseon Dynasty) and sometsuke (Early Imari). He is known for his diverse expressiveness, including white porcelain, Karatsu, Oribe, aka-e, and classical patterns.
