HASAMI PORCELAIN is an innovative Hasami ware brand created by Tokyo Saikai Toki, an established Hasami ware wholesaler, with Takuhiro Shinomoto (tortoise) as creative director. With a clean and simple design devoid of any ornamentation and subdued colors, it enhances the appearance of any food. All pieces can be perfectly stacked by size, and smaller pieces can be nested inside larger ones. This not only makes for efficient storage but also allows for versatile use when stacked. Inspired by traditional Japanese tiered food boxes (jubako), these dishes can be used freely both individually and as a set in a wide range of situations.

This is a soba choko series from Risho Kiln, representing modern Arita ware. The exterior features delicate black lines on a matte white background, using the inlay technique. It boasts a modern and stylish design. The base features the "Janome Kōdai" (snake-eye foot), popular in old Imari ware. It can also be used for coffee, sake, or as a dish for food and desserts.

ALONGU Soup Bowl 12cm

We named our brand "ALONGU" as we enjoy the current state of Japanese cuisine, where diverse nationalities and regional characteristics coexist, and we seek the form of tableware that foreshadows the future of Japanese cuisine. By intentionally adding "U" to "ALONG" to express it like a Japanese romanization, and combining it with the kanji "明論具", we convey that it is a vessel that embraces the diverse contemporary meals where nationalities intersect, while also being tableware made in Japan.

The designer is Jin Kuramoto, a product designer known for HAY's "KNIT," arflex Japan's "JK," and home appliances such as audio-technica's wireless earphones. This is Kuramoto's first time designing tableware among his numerous works. The art direction is handled by graphic designer Rei Masaki. Through the perspective of Masaki, a Japanese-American who grew up in New York and has been active in Tokyo since 2017, the world of "ALONGU" is expressed in a borderless way, transcending nationalities.

Made from jujube wood, each piece is turned and carved by a skilled craftsman. Wood naturally has patterns such as "knots" and "medullary rays" that occur as the tree grows. Wood with beautiful grain is finished with a clear coat, while wood with noticeable individual differences in patterns is painted with color to minimize wood waste during production.
