We named our brand "ALONGU" as we sought to enjoy the current state of Japanese cuisine, which incorporates a mix of various nationalities and regional characteristics, and to explore the form of tableware that foreshadows the future of Japanese cuisine. By intentionally adding "U" to "ALONG" to express it like a Japanese romanization, and combining it with the kanji "明論具", we convey that it is a vessel that embraces the diverse contemporary dining experiences where nationalities intersect, while also being a piece of tableware made in Japan.

The designer is Jin Kuramoto, a product designer who has worked on household appliances such as HAY's "KNIT", arflex Japan's "JK", and audio technica's wireless earphones. This is the first time that Mr. Kuramoto has designed tableware among the many products he has created. The art direction is handled by graphic designer Rei Masaki. Born and raised in New York and active in Tokyo since 2017, Masaki's perspective, as a Japanese-American, expresses the world of "ALONGU" across nationalities and without borders.

To redefine the image of porcelain products as having a uniform finish, the ALONGU series is intentionally crafted to allow you to enjoy the individuality and subtle variations in the material and expression of the glazes and finishes, pursuing a wide range of expressive possibilities.

About ALONGU's Inspection Standards

While we only sell products that have passed the manufacturer's inspection, please be aware of the following product characteristics:

• "Yakishime" products are fired at high temperatures without glaze, so there may be individual differences in the black spots and color of the surface depending on factors such as the weather during firing. Also, oil stains may occur if left for a long time after use.
• The rim of "Fuchisabi" products is treated with an iron-based glaze, and there may be individual differences in color depending on factors such as the weather during firing.
• With "Seiji" products, glaze pools may occur due to the application of the glaze, and there may be individual differences in color depending on factors such as the weather during firing.
• "Tenmoku" products use a delicate glaze created by crystalline components, so there may be individual differences in color depending on factors such as the weather during firing.
• Due to the active use of glazes with rich expressions, vessels with small spots or unevenness are considered good products.
