We offer three colors of gift bags for gift wrapping. The price of a gift wrapping bag is 100 yen (tax included), regardless of size.

After normal packaging to prevent damage to the product, we will place it in a gift wrapping bag. Please note that there is no special box for the contents. Please also note that if a product does not fit within the dimensions below, we will be unable to wrap it and your order will be cancelled.

If you require a gift wrapping bag for each item, please purchase the necessary number of bags. If no specific instructions are given, all purchased items will be placed in a single wrapping bag. We will select the most suitable size. Please note that customers cannot choose the size.

Special Box / Noshi (Decorative Paper Strip)

Our products do not come with a special box, so for Noshi, a cosmetic box will be prepared. The contents will be wrapped in cushioning material to prevent breakage, then placed in a suitable natural box. An additional 500 yen (tax included) will be charged. Please note that the size, color, or paper quality of the special box cannot be specified. Also, please understand that wrapping paper is not available.

When purchasing, please select the type of Noshi, enter the "Omotegaki" (heading) and "Namaire" (name), and then purchase it along with the relevant product. If no text is required, please leave the fields blank and proceed with the purchase. If the "Omotegaki" field is left blank, we will appropriately fill it in according to the type of Noshi.

Sometsuke Reverse Karakusa Shaving Brush 13.4cm

At first glance, it might appear to be "Tako Karakusa" (octopus arabesque), a common pattern found in old Imari ware from the Edo period, but this is a "Gyaku Karakusa" (reverse arabesque) pattern. While regular Tako Karakusa fills in the arabesque pattern itself, Gyaku Karakusa fills in the background while leaving the arabesque pattern uncolored. Gyaku Karakusa, which requires high skill and experience, stands out among old Imari sometsuke for its splendor and presence.

The handle was produced by Kishogama, a company skilled at "recreating old Imari ware." Among their notable achievements is the "Usururi Sōro," which recreates the "Usururi" (thin lapis lazuli) technique, known as a lost art. It reinterprets the design and texture of the "Sometsuke Shirasagi-zu Sankyaku-zara" (blue and white egret design tripod plate), which is designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan, in a new form.

The bristles were produced by Chikuhodo, a brush workshop renowned worldwide. This luxurious shaving brush uses more bristles than usual. The bristle material is badger hair. When wet, the bristles soften, providing a smooth feel against the skin. Furthermore, badger hair has just the right amount of resilience, allowing for the creation of finer lather.

Sometsuke Madori Karakusa Shaving Brush 13.4cm

"Tako Karakusa," a swirling vine pattern reminiscent of octopus suckers, is a design often seen on Ko-Imari ware from the Edo period. While the Tako Karakusa pattern evolved over time, designs with outlines filled in with a technique called "dami" were frequently created in the first half of the 18th century. This "Madori Karakusa" pattern balances the Tako Karakusa design with well-designed negative space. Karakusa (arabesque) is a botanical motif introduced from Tang Dynasty China. In the mid-Edo period, it was used as a secondary motif to decorate the rims of plates or the shoulders of jars. Later, the area covered by karakusa expanded, and it came to be depicted across entire surfaces. This motif became popular in the 18th century. The delicate and elegant karakusa, featuring petals regularly arranged on swirling leaves, combines gentleness and strength. A glaze that vividly expresses the robustness of the vines is used, highlighting the beauty of the brushstrokes.

The handle is crafted by Kisho Kiln, known for its expertise in "reproducing Ko-Imari." Sometsuke Sansui Makeup Brush 7.6cm

Approximately 400 years ago, the first domestic porcelain was born in Arita, with China serving as the model for ceramic techniques and designs. Among these, the commonly seen sansui (landscape) painting, which is believed to ward off evil thoughts and demons, is a frequently used motif in Ko-Imari ware. You can enjoy the sansui painting by rotating the makeup brush 360 degrees.
